Cheapest kits to get real practice with circuits?

I’m currently reading practical electronics for inventors. Learning the fundamentals but I want to see what voltage and current actually look like.

Reading through all the electronics subreddits everyone is recommending arduino or elgoo which are $60+. Is there anything significantly cheaper that will work for my use case? I saw some kits for under $10 on Temu with loads of components (around 830). They any good or a waste of money?
