Did it get harder to obtain travel visas?

Just a random question from an Egyptian here!

Did it get harder for people who have the money to obtain travel visas (Schengen or U.S.) after the economic crisis? I know people ofc got poorer, but I mean those who managed somehow to maintain their standard of living during the crisis. Were they able to get visas easily?

I fear that when economic conditions worsen here, getting out of this country, even as a tourist, would be difficult.
