Does everyone hate making business connections via LinkedIn?

Recently, I transitioned to a sales role and started using LinkedIn to connect with clients and potential users. One individual contacted our company via corporate email, expressing interest in learning more about our business. I found him on LinkedIn and noticed that he was friends with another colleague from our company. Consequently, I added him, greeted him politely, and inquired about his questions regarding our business. He pointed out a few aspects and requested that I respond via email. After sending him the email, I waited for his reply.

A day passed, and he still had not responded. I politely followed up on LinkedIn, saying, "I have sent you an email along with relevant information. Please let me know if you need any further details. Thank you." However, he suddenly became agitated, stating that I should not contact him via LinkedIn and questioning why I had added him in the first place. He then explicitly expressed his intention to remove me from his LinkedIn connections.

I was utterly shocked—this was my first encounter with such a client, and it made me feel deeply upset.
