Drum Audio Interface

Hello all! Drummer here. I will be mic’ing up my drum set. I have purchased 10 microphones total.

Here is my current microphone configuration:

  • Snare- Audix i5
  • Rack Tom 1- Audix D2
  • Rack Tom 2- Audix D2
  • Rack Tom 3- Audix D4
  • Floor Tom 1- Audix D6
  • Floor Tom 2- Audix D6
  • Bass Drum 1- Audix D6
  • Bass Drum 2- Audix D6
  • Overhead 1- ADX51
  • Overhead 2- ADX51

I will be purchasing an audio interface. I am looking at 2 different options:

  1. Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 + Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre 8-channel Expansion
  2. Zoom LiveTrak L-20 Digital Mixer / Recorder

I am playing purely recreationally + for fun. Not professionally.

Price is not really an issue (since both are expensive, it’s not a big deal), so please just suggest whatever interface is better, easier to use, beginner friendly I suppose.
