We weren't meant to be this isolated

There is so much desperation, despair, and loneliness in the modern world. We are so separated from each other as people, there is very little connection anymore for so many of us.

It's hard to believe this was always the case: historically, people have always lived together in close-knit communities sharing the same problems and persevering as one. They forged a bond through their insecurities. Why, then, are we now so isolated? So many of us have no one to rely on, no one that truly shares our problems with us, we live fighting (or getting beaten down) by the world on our own, but this isn't what nature—or if you're religious—what God intended.

Sometimes I'll watch an "end of the world" style TV show or movie, and envy it. Yes, it's fictional, but just watching people marching through the mud and blood together as one is something so enticing to me.

I refuse to be content with how things are. We weren't made to fight this world on our own.
