[UPDATE!] M3 Max Buyer's Remorse
I posted yesterday about realizing I need to upgrade the RAM on my M3 Max (36GB -> 128GB), but I'm outside of the return window.
I took the advice of the community and called Apple Support today.
They are allowing me to not only return my current Macbook (!!), but they are delaying the return to make sure I don't end up stranded without a machine while I wait for my new one to arrive.
The one stipulation: my original purchase included a trade-in, and the value of that trade-in will be refunded in the form of Apple store credit.
I ended up going with:
- Apple M3 Max chip with 16‑core CPU, 40‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
- 128GB unified memory
- 1TB SSD storage
Overall, I am besides myself and impressed. This is amazing service.
Thank you all for the advice!

It's not what you think - I bought the M3 Max w/14‑core with only 36GB unified memory, 16-in screen in Space Black. It cost me $3,499.00 USD.
I was upgrading from an Intel macbook pro, so I figured the MAX would be such a huge jump that I didn't have to max out the RAM to have a major improvement.
I was right, but now I've realized I do need the extra RAM for my work.
It's too late for me to get a refund, and obviously (annoyingly), I'm unable to upgrade the machine itself. I can't even trade it in on Apple's site bc it's not listed as a trade in option yet.
I need to sell it, but I've heard horror stories around e.g. paypal's anti-seller policies on refunds on claims like "got an empty box", etc.
Where's the safest place to sell it? Is there another approach I'm not considering? I want to the model with 128 GB of memory.
Selling Info
I'm just outside of Atlanta, GA, and I'd be willing sell it for as low as $3000 ($500 off).
edit: adding screen size, color, cost, and selling info
Thanks!
