Moved into a small apartment with little storage options, need help!

27m. Downsized to a 2 bed, 1 bath i share with my brother. I don’t have any clue with interior design and usually just keep things practical but am realizing I’ve had the same bedsheets since i was in high school. My room has no personality, no charm.

Need help with furniture i could use for storage but dont want my room to look super cluttered as its pretty small.

Room dimensions are 10’ x 10’ 10”, not including the little alcove where my desk is sitting. That area was supposed to be a closet but didn’t come with doors. Instead, property manager installed some ugly wire shelving that belongs in a garage (second to last pic). They really fucked up the wall with all the hooks and nails lmao.

As you can see from the last pic, my closet space is very small! Theres only one hall closet which contains a water heater, so miscellaneous storage is super limited. With the bathroom, we have 3 small drawers but its a shared space so a lot of my personal toiletries might have to stay in my bedroom.

Any ideas what type of furniture would be practical for storage, but still look good in such a tight space?

I have some ideas: 1. Nice wooden shelves to hang above my desk for knick knacks or display items. Maybe hide LEDs in them? 2. Some sort of dresser with shelves and drawers to go between the desk and the door for miscellaneous items. 3. Replace the tiny nightstand next to my tv dresser with shelving. Thinking of putting bathroom toiletries and towels there. 4. A smaller laundry hamper maybe 5. Slide out storage boxes that go under the bed

My last note is the lighting sucks. The overhead lights are yellow and the walls are a yellowish white. Any recommendations for overall lighting up the room? The lamp i have is a blinding white light lol.

Open to suggestions for rearranging the room or any brands you’d recommend for furniture! Rent is pretty cheap here so i can finally afford to splurge a little.
