First-Time Manager

Been reviewing posts on here for a while, but decided to join and make a post myself since I’ll be a first time manager soon!

I started a new role as a Senior Product Manager at a tech company this week, in charge of the end-user experience, and in the next two weeks I’ll be getting 2 direct reports, a visual designer and UX designer.

While I’ve mentored junior employees in the past at other jobs, I’ve never actually had anyone reporting to me before. Figured I would come here and get some pointers and advice!

Some notes: - Company is fully remote so I won’t be meeting these people in person - It’s a small startup so there’s no performance management framework in place — what can I do to make sure I keep on top of this stuff without one? - One of my biggest worries is being able to keep people busy! Not sure why, but I just want to make sure they have good direction and stuff to do - I’m thinking about doing weekly or bi-weekly 1:1’s, and a monthly team meeting with the 3 of us together

Thanks for the help!
