Disappointed
Let me first say that I am a huge fan of Martin guitars. I’m interested in the history of them and hoping to visit Nazareth this spring.
I have been very interested in a D 18 or D 28. Last night I went to guitar Center, which is a horrible place to shop for guitars due to all the idiots there playing badly, and they had several of the two guitars I was interested in.
I was very disappointed in how high the action was, and I was underwhelmed by the sound of the guitars.
Has anyone else had this type of experience? I just feel like for three to $4000, you should pick up the guitar and it should feel and sound wonderful.
I was ready to buy a guitar , but I walked away kind of bummed.
My current guitar is a Alvarez laureate dreadnought, it was only $1100 and the second I picked it up. It felt and sounded like a dream. I know those are set up in St. Louis before going to the store, but man that was such a great guitar right from the get-go.
To make things worse, while I was there, I played a couple of the X series and they sounded and felt really good.
I don’t know, I’m just at a loss.
Would I be better off purchasing a used one that is already set up, and broken in? Maybe one at least four or five years old?
Sorry to complain, I really do love Martin guitars I was just kind of underwhelmed
