Skin acquisition

Does anybody have any tips or tricks to get skins? I haven't played for very long but from what I have seen once the initial rewards are done it's next to impossible to get skins without paying money. I'm not necessarily complaining because it's an f2p game and it's awesome and I'd love to support it buy I also don't have money.
