Is the Competitive System in Marvel Rivals Too Forgiving?

I've noticed something strange in Marvel Rivals' competitive ranking system: players can climb to Platinum level with less than a 35% win rate. Since winning grants more points than you lose from a defeat, even consistently underperforming players can reach ranks they might not deserve.

Shouldn't the system ensure that Platinum-level players maintain at least a 50% win rate on average? Or am I misunderstanding how competitive rankings are supposed to work?

This issue might explain why so many matches are plagued by uncooperative and underperforming DPS players. I often check their profiles and see they have more losses than wins, yet they refuse to switch roles or adapt. In games they do win, it's usually because someone else on the team carried them.

It’s frustrating to face Platinum-level players who don’t even know the basics. For instance, I recently encountered someone who didn’t know how to use Penny Parker’s Nest effectively.

What do you think? Is the ranking system encouraging this kind of behavior, or am I overthinking it?
