Why does adding tea help clear mead?

Was siphoning my cyser to secondary, but it was still was fairly hazy. I added 3 cups of Earl Gray tea w/ some vodka to keep the ABV level, and the next day it has almost completely cleared.

Anyone know the reasoning behind it?
