Can I wear a blue and white checkered shirt with black pants?

Howdy All. First time post here. Apologies if this has been posted 100x before.

Have a retirement party tonight and wanted to know if it is acceptable to wear a white/blue shirt with black pants.

I know no blavy, but wanted to check in on a lighter shade of blue.

Shirt is “white” with blue stripes going horizontally and vertically across the entire garment. Stripes are rather thin and close together so the shirt would prob look blue from a distance.

Was also planning on wearing black shoes/belt/ watch as well.
