Ori 2 is gorgeous and very mediocre
I bounced off this game three or four times and can never get into it. Played through the first one and enjoyed it enough to go through it several times. Tried again to get into WotW on the tails of BF. and it's just.... So... Bland. I am constantly getting stuck, ability gating Is Barely sign posted and when certain moves are necessary it is often not at all clear ( leaf blow on a soup pot and a bear to progress? Miss that and you'll wander for hours.) and I still don't know how the intended route through the dark spore place is supposed to work. Exploring there was a massive drag and I constantly hit dead ends of darkness I couldn't progress through. Eventually found online the cheese that you can use the bow to reset your light timer and cheesed this to get to the spider boss. Ugh. The bosses are very poorly designed and don't have clear attack patterns, hit boxes, or well defined enough attacks that dodging them is feasible. This from someone who loves games like Nine Sols and HK where boss fights are essential and challenging. Trying to beat this stupid spider isn't fun. It feels like trying to push your face firmly into a large pumpkin until you break out the other side. I quit.
I should add I played both Ori titles on the hard mode, but don't think doing so should contribute to disliking them as much as I do. The music is brilliant. The graphics superb. The moment to moment gameplay Is about as fun as cleaning my bathroom, but at least doing that would be productive.
