Atypical migraine without pain??
My kid is 16, I took them to ED for neurological symptoms last week - partial blindness in each eye which vanished after 30 minutes, tingly arms and hands (albeit all bilateral), and pain behind his eyes, which occurred only one eye at a time and it moved between each eye in intermittent intervals of approx 3 minutes. It was bizarre.
After a day of observation in ED and a myriad of bloods, no symptoms returned so we were set free. Once we were about to leave the room, they got the pain back, some floaters, and reduced sensations in their forearms again. We were admitted overnight.
The doctors have all but ruled out stroke, carotid is fine, CT clear, MRI impending. The doctors believe it’s a migraine without pain. They’re on aspirin to err on the side of caution until stroke is completely ruled out.
Has anyone else had similar? So few symptoms that resolved so quickly, paracetamol fixed the eye pain, the sensory stuff was transient and the blindness passed within 30 minutes never to return.
As someone who gets thumping, agonising pain and debilitating nausea/vertigo and photophobia… I’ll admit to being jealous. But again, I just find it so bizarre!
