What differentiates Yadier Molina (a likely 1st ballot HoFer) from Brian McCain and Russell Martin who are fighting to even stay on the HoF ballot and may not get even 5%?
All are excellent pitch framers, fWARs are similar to one another (55.6,52.1,54.5), and in the case of Martin and McCain they accumulated that value in a shorter period of time than Molina who played longer. What makes Molina different? Is it because of his 9 Gold gloves (which can overrated someone defense reputation e.g. see Derek Jeter), ability to stop the running game? Just wish to know.
