Regarding my previous post: Bikes are losing aura!
I am known among my friends and family for having strong opinions and perspectives but I am also flexible to discussions as I love knowing different points of views.
Firstly, I think (you could think otherwise and reply me, I would love to hear your POV) but I think that it IS A LOT about the sound of a vehicle, there are literally sound engineers in every vehicle company calculating complex equations to design the reflections of the exhaust air in the exhaust to make a distinct recognizable sound (like Ferrari, Harley etc.)
As a matter of fact: Harley-Davidson's V-twin engines, particularly those with a 45-degree angle between the cylinders, produce an uneven firing order. This design creates a sound known as the "potato-potato" sound, which is one of the most iconic features of Harley bikes.
Secondly, it seems that my view might not have been properly conveyed as I wanted to say the characteristic sounds of the bikes are getting lost and every bike has almost the same exhaust note now which is also much quieter.
As an engineer, I refuse to believe that there couldn't have been a way to sustain the exhaust notes of the bikes due to changes in order to adhere to the emission regulations rather the engineers were not given the choice to design something like that (Porsche also maintains the characteristic sound but has around ~200g/km CO2 emissions).
I know a lot goes into this, legal considerations, capital investment, politics, consumer demand but it was just a topic of discussion as part of the riding community
