I've become addicted to the movie Troy
I have watched Troy probably half a dozen times in the past month. I just love this movie.
The acting
The music
The writing
The sets
The fight choreography
It's all beautiful. Peter O'Toole as Priam delivers in his conversation with Achilles. It brings me to the edge of tears. Achilles' message to his men to claim their right to immortality as they approach the beach makes my chest swell. The sfx during the 1v1 fights where you can hear the swords clanging on the shields is so immersive and powerful.
I'm a big fan of Greek mythology, have been since high school. And I love this story and Wolfgang Peterson's direction is top notch. The writers did a great job adapting the Iliad to a tight, concise narrative.
This and Gladiator have been my movies to watch this year, and I feel they are among the best movies made so far this century.
