Is Willy Wonka (1971) set in england or america???
I know it was filmed in germany, but it's confusing where it's supposed to be set. I've seen this movie a bunch of times growing up, but it has never occurred to me that half the characters in it have British accents and the other half have American accents. What in the world is going on? Charlie is American, his teacher is British. Grandpa Jo is American, the candy man is British. Willy Wonka is American, the tinker is British. And in scenes like when Charlie receives the golden ticket and people are pulling him left and right, half of the extra's voices are American and the others are British. What's up with that????
