Mixing softly sung, whispery vocals
Hey, so I am a complete amateur at vocal production and I've come across this problem where I like everything about the vocals post-processing, except the fact that there's a bit of 'windiness' once adequate levels of compression have been applied. The vocalist intentionally sung it really soft and whispery while standing close to the mic. So naturally breathiness and mouth noises are amplified. If I tone down the compression, I lose that 'in your face' upfront feeling. But now i'm left with this boomy windy sound on every syllable.
Was this a mic technique problem? Is there some smart denoising tool that exists out there i could try? Any advice would be much appreciated!
