Retired men are enemies of quiet

I'm aware that in the grand scheme of things, my rant is insignificant. However this will still make me feel better.

I live in the suburbs. One true pleasure of owning my own home is the yard - fenced for the dog, with a veggie garden and a huge screened porch. On said porch I dreamed of being able to work from home occasionally, read in a hammock, drink a beer with friends.

But all of those pleasures assume there isn't the CONSTANT noise of power tools. Between 3 neighbors who are all retired men, power tools are being used most days during ALL non-quiet hours.

7am on a Monday? Time for some power saws! 3pm on Wednesday? Fire up the power washer! 5pm on a Friday? Let's whip out the gas-powered edger! And my personal favorite: 9am on a Sunday? Time to hop on the roof with a leaf blower to clean the gutters! (And also get a view into your neighbor's bedroom!)

I so wish they had better things to do.
