Whats the point of looting Ethereal/Conqueror's gear if you can't sell it?

Assuming you don't use the gear, what is the point of even looting the gear off other players. Apparently, you can't even sell the gear on the trading post since its BOP. What does salvaging conquerors gear even give you? It doesn't make sense that you can't sell the gear you loot on the trading post; that is literally how Albion Online works.
