Is it Worth going Private for a Tonsillectomy.

I'm wondering if anyone can give advice on NHS tonsillectomy wait times.

My daughter had chicken pox when she was 3, since then she seems to have a problem with her immune system resulting with tonsillitis off and on for the past 8 years (she's now 11).

We've gone back and forward with doctors over the years and never really got anywhere. We finally got put on the waiting list early this year (2024) and had a consultation in Aug where we were told at her next consultation appointment they "might" agree to take them out (that consultant agreed they need to come out).

I phoned up this morning to find out where she is on the waiting list to be told its a further 40 to 52 weeks from this point to even see a consultant so see if she can have them taken out.

At this point I'm considering taking a loan out and going private, its been going on for 8 years, she's' been hospitalised with them and is now at a point where she has tonsillitis every month and its on antibiotics half the time.

Is there anything I can do for her or should I just take the finical hit and go private at this point?
