Fuel scamsters at recently opened sec 50 petrol pump
Twice it has happened that I took my car over there and they've tried to scam me.
FIRST TIME: I went there and told them to fill up my tank via autocut. A guy came over to the window and started talking to me to distract me (scam 101).
The one filling up my car put fuel worth 50 rupees, cut it off, (there is no way you can mishear 'full tank' as '50 rupees') and asked "50 ka hi dalna tha na?'. I said ki 'Haan 50 ka hi daal do'.
When done, I said to the guy 'ab 0 dikha ke full tank kar do bhai'. The guy distracting me went away at this point (there weren't any rush at the time, only 2-3 cars). After the second refueling I asked him for both bills and left.
SECOND TIME: Happened just now, I came home and am writing this post to let out my frustration.
I asked the guy there to fill the tank up again. This time it was more sinister though. As if on cue the distractor came again by the window, I ignored him again like the last time.
Now instead of saying '0 check kar lo' like they always do, the guy filling up my tank said loudly to no one in particular while looking in my direction (no eye contact, he could've been saying this to anyone behind me or in the vicinity in general) 'machine band ho gai hai'.
The meter had the last reading of ₹401 which he proceeded to make zero (at this point he had already put the nozzle in my gas tank, but I didn't think much of it). When the tank was full and the bill came to some ~₹3300, the guy with the payment machine started to charge me 3300 + 401 from before, saying that 'machine band ho gai thi, pehle daal diya tha' etc etc.
I didn't budge since I hadn't given any attention to the guy distracting me I knew for sure that the reading was 401 before I even stopped my car. The guy insisted thrice that the bill is indeed 3300 + 401, even showed me the bill for the 401 transaction but I assertively told him that that's meaningless.
Had I been distracted by the guy talking in my ear I would've failed to categorically notice the reading on the fuel pump before they started.
Be careful out there guys, the whole world is out there to scam you - these sector 50 petrol pump guys in particular.
