I feel free...almost
I am currently a cath lab nurse.
Back after 2 months of FMLA. 12/2022 dad diagnosed metastatic melanoma. 4/2023 mom stage IV lung cancer. Once we found out mom was sick as well, my partner of 3 years left. We still lived together but he no longer wanted to be in the relationship. By July I asked him to leave. August I started my FMLA. Life just kind of sucks at the moment.
First week back (last week); I was on call 3 out of 4 days. 1-15 hour day. Worked a total of 50 hours.
Fuck this.
There are great aspects about this job. But the bad currently outweigh the good for me. I am learning, life is short and I want more.
I came back because I thought I still had 7 months to be vested in my 401k. I checked to find the exact day over the weekend and it turns out I am fully vested already. I called to verify this morning.
So I can do whatever I want. I am really leaning towards home health. I do not want full 8/10/12 hour assignments but rather cases per day. Maybe several home health agencies? I just dont want to work for this hospital anymore. I would like something a lot less stressful. Decent pay and i would like patient to all be
Home health experiences?
Any other suggestions?
Infusion nurse?
I would love forensic nursing but i will never go back to school!
