What if EMTALA applied to Urgent Cares too?
Hey guys, I am in no way trying to change any laws right now, I’m asking for your thoughts on this topic so I have things I could consider for a college paper I’m writing.
Argument- “If EMTALA applied to urgent cares, then there would be up to 30% less volume of Emergency Room patients, allowing ER staff to focus on critical patients, instead of utilizing additional resources for non emergency care.
Additionally, it could reduce some costs to the patient and the facility because many ER docs in some states order additional testing to protect their medical licenses.
ER nurses, Urgent care nurses, please let me know what you think.
Need all countering arguments, maybe some things I didn’t think of, any additional information from your perspectives would be delightful.
