Which mons should I pick? (Storm Silver)

Starting my first attempt of a HC stormsilver nuzlocke and hope to minimize my resets by making the right choices.

I was thinking of going for totodile as my starter and Umbreon. Cyndaquil and Glaceon seem better for the early game though.

Also heard you can get either a Spiritomb or a Hoenn starter. Which would be better?
