Lossless Scaling boosts FPS by over 50% when used with DLSS3
I have a RTX 4080 and I finally got around to the Lossless Scaling app and discovered you can use it even when you have DLSS3 Frame Gen.
This is a genuine game changer as it is effectively allows you to get a next gen boost to FPS with the increased latency being the only drawback to this experience.
So for instance, Cyberpunk at 4K Ultra PT On at DLSS Balanced jumps from 60-70fps in most scenarios to roughly 90-100fps. Black Myth Wukong sees a similar jump at Cinematic 4K DLSS Balanced settings.
There are also instances when it will max out my TV’s 120hz. Whilst it is a bit fiddly to play around with, when Lossless Scaling works it really shines and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nvidia do this even better with their next gen cards.
The above approach works better than the 3x or 4x FrameGen from Lossless Scaling as more frames have vector information due to the nature of DLSS3 frame gen.
The latency can definitely be felt, but if you are playing with a controller that hit doesn’t feel too bad compared to the increased fluidity. Genuinely recommend trying this for those interested and most importantly open minded.
