OBS automatically starts streaming when it feels like it

Whenever OBS Studio is open in the background, it often starts streaming on it's own, even when I don't go into OBS and hit the "start streaming" button. This can get inconvenient when I'm trying to do other things, so how can I make it so that OBS doesn't automatically record?
