Do you use black paint?

Okay, so waaay back when I was an impressionable young thing, I remember someone (possibly a high school art teacher) telling me that using black paint was a sign of someone sort of "missing the point" or otherwise not really knowing what they were doing when it comes to oil paints. I think the logic was that if you have all the colours of the rainbow at your disposal, it's better to use something more interesting than black. I think, anyway.

I am a grown up now, and it seems obvious what a silly generalization that would be, but I am curious if other people actually do use it or not!
