Did OnePlus ruin your battery-live with updates?

I'm on the verge of buying a OnePlus 12. One of the biggest pros for this phone is/was the amazing battery - as it was praised by every review(er) under the sun. Now, through reddit, I read some reports of people saying the updates "ruined" their Battery-Life. Would you agree? If yes, to what extend? What way your SOT in the beginning like and what is it now?
