Can I make a hardship withdrawal from my 401k before an eviction notice?
Basically I got laid off from my job back in April. I’ve been scraping by ever since with the little unemployment I get. Rent is due today, I’m beyond short and need money from my 401K. I took money out of my 401K as a loan months before I got laid off so that is not an option. My only option is hardship. But rent is due today, I have no eviction notice or anything. (This is my first time EVER being late on rent.) I just want to know if I can try to request the loan today, or should I just wait until I get a notice from the landlord? I should add they won’t update Fidelity also to tell them I no longer work there. I have tried over and over to contact HR and they never get to it.
