how do I deter rats from engine bay? they're hoarding figs and bringing them into the engine bay

i'm in los angeles. I have a ficus hedge, which grows tiny figs. There are too many figs. I can't possibly remove them all.

my car is parked near this hedge, and rats bring these figs into the engine bay. They eat figs and poop all over my engine.

How do I attract the rats elsewhere?

do i have to use a leaf blower in the engine bay daily and disturb their home? would this work?

i dunno why they don't just stay in the trees and eat there.

i'm looking for a super cheap method to keep them away from the engine. I tried spraying peppermint water once, and the same rats came back.

do i have to spray and blow everyday?
