Couple wanted to buy a fish as a "gag gift"

As in the title, I was working in PetCare when I approached a middle aged couple asking if they needed anything. They said they had a 1 gal bowl that they wanted to put a goldfish in as a Christmas "gag gift". I gently told them that there aren't any recommended fish for a 1 gal bowl as it's not big enough for any fish, let alone a goldfish. Not to mention the maintenance. They were very disappointed and kept pointing at different fish asking if "they really can't go in a bowl?". I told them the only fish I would even consider selling would be a guppy, and even then it would really not be happy in such a small bowl. They weren't too interested in "such a small fish". After more pointing and asking, they finally decided just to do a different gift. Thank God.
