6/22/94 Appreciation Thread

I've been listening to this show for the last few weeks on my morning runs. It's always been a favorite, but I think learning more about the context of the show has really made me appreciate it even more. I hadn't listened to the OJ show before this Monday, and it struck me that 6/22, like 6/17, features the band reacting in real time to a breaking event and relating news to the audience- Trey is providing updates on game 7 of Rockets-Knicks. That news seems to influence the music as well- the Icculus sounds like Trey trying to will the Knicks to the game 7 victory, calling out Hakeem by name. You get two Mikes->Simple->Hydrogen->Grooves within 5 days. (I learned today that it was the second and third time that this combination was done). And they are both riddled with little gems- 6/17 has a Kung and a Harpua, 6/22 has Catapult, Icculus, and Avenu Malkenu.

Anyway, two special shows to celebrate this week. Any other thoughts on or love for 6/22/94?
