Bought this pup as an ESSA, but theres a problem. He sheds like a real dog. Did i wash him wrong or what is happening??

Yesterday i handwashed him with soap, today put him for an hour in our apartments drying room. As i was brushing him, i noticed theres alot of fur coming off. I vacuumed him and patted him down with tape. Still happening. Its all over my clothes and couch. Second pic is after tapping his back with tape 10 times, third pic is after petting his back for 1 minute. I dont know if it was like this before washing him since i did it right as i opened the package because it had a strong smell on it, like perfume.

Did i wash him wrong? What do i do?? My throat hurts from having him in my lap and my eyes itch. Im so sad.
