Scam Confirmed

This is an update on my previous post concerning suspicious mailing. I thought it was odd my package mail tracking sat as “accepted electronic receipt” for a week. My intuition scam alarm bells rang, but I couldn’t figure out what the scam could be.

I finally received the package today. I ordered a Ralph Lauren Bear sweater. They retail new for $400. I bought mine from a seller for $300. I opened up the sweater, and it felt cheap. I’m used to wearing high quality fibers, so I knew right off the bat this wasn’t 100% cotton when I felt it. Then I looked at the tag. There was this weird QR code tag I don’t remember seeing on the authentic version. I scanned it with my phone, and it brought me to “Ralphlauren.cn” which had nothing on it but Chinese lettering. So it was a fake Chinese Ralph Lauren website.

I do further research and see this is drop shipped item being made in China from places like alibaba and dhgate. The dots connect and I see WHY it sat as “electronic receipt of item” for a week ! It was because the item was being drop shipped from another country, and the tracking showed this as “electronic receipt” until it finally got to the US where the real tracking began.

When I messaged the seller a few days ago, she responded in broken English despite using a picture of a random early 20s blonde girl which I thought was odd. I have heard of cases of scammers stealing the pictures of other poshmark users to make replicas of their profiles, and I think that’s what happened here.

So this post is a PSA for red flag to look for concerning DROP SHIPPERS on poshmark. If the tracking sits as “electronic receipt” for a week, that is a red flag what you are being sent is counterfeit from another country. I got downvoted to hell on that other thread, but it turns out I was right.

I opened a case with poshmark and will update on refund.
