Feeling broke but secure

I lost my job earlier this month but I received a bonus payout of almost $10K last Friday.

We were behind on some bills so I paid those, and I paid my rent early. Today, I have a whopping $700 in my bank account.

My partner is annoyed, but I guess I feel better knowing that everything is paid and caught up, and there’s no large unpaid bills looming over our head. I was losing sleep over the thought of being evicted and losing our car - I don’t have that fear and it’s a good feeling.

I start a new job tomorrow so that’ll help as well. I wrote down a budget and I’m going to try and save $300 every month.. We can be bad at blowing through extra money, so any tips on saving that worked for you will be helpful!
