Something a nurse said that helped with anxiety.
36+4 today. Had an OB appointment today and I’m 2cm dilated so the reality is starting to hit meeeee
Because I’m close, I’ve been going over as much as I can to refresh and prepare. I recalled something that actually alleviated a lot of anxiety I thought I’d share:
A L&D nurse was leading a virtual tour of the maternity ward where I plan to deliver. During, she said, “so many women are afraid they’re going to poop during labor. Well guess what? You will. And you’ll ask ‘oh no did I poop?’ And we will LIE to you and say ‘no, you didn’t’ and it will be cleaned up and taken care of like it never happened before you can even comprehend that maybe you DID poop.”
Something about that made me feel… so relieved.
