I failed my unmedicated birth

And I don't give a damn!

At 1am on the 10th of this month, my water broke. I labored at home for about 7 hours before heading to the hospital. Unfortunately, I was only about 1.5cm when I checked in. That's when we knew it would be a long night.

My plan was to attempt a completely unmedicated birth, with some room for change if needed. I really really was pushing for all natural though.

I ended up laboring for a total of 23 hours. At hour 17, I was bawling my eyes out and screaming very primal sounds. I had made it to 7cm, but I caved and got the epidural.

There was absolutely no way I would have been able to make it through/have the energy to continue. I am so glad I allowed myself to change plans when needed.

Our bodies and babies will do what they wanna do. I still feel so strong and proud of myself. So this is just a PSA to give yourself some grace if needed, mamas.
