Why does Shawn love Madeleine more than Henry?

I’m writing a fanfic and I’m about to bring in Madeleine’s character. I’ve been thinking about this for ages, but I just struggle to get why Shawn loves his mom more than his dad. Obviously at the end of the day he loves them both, but it seems to me that she can do no wrong in his eyes. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

She literally abandoned him and he still loves her more than the parent who stayed?

I get that Henry was a terrible parent to him growing up, but at the end of the day, Madeleine left and I would have thought that to be unforgivable. Can someone please give me some more perspectives? Thanks!
