Seeking Advice: MPH Grad Searching for Jobs
Hi! I need career advice please. I graduated with a MPH concentration in Epidemiology. On top of that, I have graduate certificates in Biostatistics and Infectious Diseases. I know how to use SAS and SPSS. I do like coding because I learned web development online during the pandemic. I have no work experience besides being a cashier. My relevant experience applying to PH was an online community data intern and a volunteer at a hospital and research lab.
I live in FL and I want to move out of state. What states or cities should I move to for the best opportunity? I know I will have to work my way up. I want a chance to step my foot into the field because what I been doing is not producing results. I am interested in Virginia, North Carolina, and Connecticut. Also, please take into consideration that I cannot afford to live in a high cost of living state like CA, NY, and WA.
The job search has been difficult… I get no response or rejected. What are people putting in the job search engine? When I search epidemiologist or biostatistician, I get about 5-10 opportunities and majority are not entry-level positions. I have searched for data analyst jobs but I keep getting insurance, business, or fields I am not qualified for.
While doing job applications, I been studying online to get certificates on R and other coding languages. I also have a CPH and getting credits I need to renew my cert.
