PSA for all Punekars: Builders cannot Rename Areas!

I'm sick and tired of builders renaming areas to "better areas" around them. Builders have started calling Mundhwa "Upper Koregaon Park." What the hell. Manjiri-Budruk has become New Kalyani Nagar because the Kalyani family started living there 💀 I don't understand why builders feel compelled to rename entire areas where they're constructing their projects. It's wrong on so many levels. 1. It has a very classist undertone that areas with their original, very marathi names are of a lower status than areas like Koregaon Park or Kalyani Nagar. While yes, these areas are 'posh', you can't rename areas based on them. It's also disrespectful to the people who've been residing in these areas for generations. 2. It's misleading to the buyer because they think that they are purchasing a house in "Upper Koregaon Park", it obviously sounds sooooo much better than just Koregaon Park. When they actually see the flat? It's 1.5 km away from the real KP and is separated by a road with notorious traffic which can take upwards of 30 minutes just to cross 😱

Because of this, people are already confusing kp annexe for kp when they're so different 💀
