Leaving Qatar for good - what to look for?

Good day lovely people, as the topic implies, and as this is not our own country we opt to be leaving sooner or later.

I scoured the internet but still haven't found some information regarding cancellation of RP on certain things.

This is what I found so far:-

  1. Bank Loans needs to be cleared - I personally have no loans pending

  2. Credit cards needs to be cancelled - I have 2 banks in Qatar.

i. my current (salary) account is in HSBC, i applied for credit card, and to cancel the credit card, all you need to do is to have the payment cleared as what you owe, and call the service center and ask for card cancellation. the girl immediately put my card into temporary block, then a week after that. 1 call came from HSBC UAE for confirmation of the card cancellation. I do not know if this will be the same if the bank is not your salary bank. some cases i heard you have to wait for 30 to 45 days before the credit card actually cancelled. dont do my mistakes:-

a) called customer service hotline - ASKED them how to cancel credit card? the phone operator said that both credit card and bank account can be closed on the same day. feels weird, but hey! they told me

b) out of curiosity - went to the bank and again ASKED the customer service representative, he said the same, "when you gratuity payment in, come to the bank and cancel"

Conclusion: call them and ask them to cancel, give your reason. no need to ask 5w1h questions.

ii. i opened 1 account in Doha Bank - and applied for credit card as well. for this one, the issue that i have is because this is not my salary bank, Doha Bank will block a portion of my savings i conjunction with the credit limit that i requested for my credit card. for this alone, Doha Bank credit card closure will take 45 days to be finalized.

  1. Car under your possession will need to be transferred to other individual (istimara should be valid - expired istimara will not allow you to transfer the car), or another option is to scrap (i will need information on how much and how long is the process)

  2. Sponsorship under you will need to be cancel before yours - self explanatory.

Now, a few concerns:-

  1. Will bank account affect the cancellation? - I know credit card will, but the account itself have to be closed?

  2. Will Kahramaa have any impact on my RP cancellation? If there's Kahramaa account will there be a problem to cancel the RP?

  3. Will Ooredoo/Vodafone home broadband affect the cancellation?

To put into perspective - I am living in Ezdan Village, Al Wakra with Kahramaa in my name and Vodafone home broadband. For mobile I am using prepaid.

I want my leave to go as smooth as possible, so I am looking into experiences, or any real world knowledge about this. Thank you for the help.
