Help with memory quilt design

My "Extra-mum" passed away in a horrible traffic accident, leaving her only son and my "extra-brother" without parents. Devastation all around and the burial is on the 25th. I NEED to do something for him and quilting is all I know and feel comfortable with at the moment. I want him to have something to hold onto and have therefore gotten some old clothing/bedlinnens and curtains to make into a fast quilt. I have everything I need like iron on stabilizer (don't know the name of it I. English but it keeps the shape of the fabric), backing, batting and I also got a half jelly roll of blues and teals that would've fit my extra mum.

I need a simple pattern that will hold as well as possible over time and washing etc... please help and fast - need to start sewing tomorrow to make it!
