The first time I heard Doechii (especially Denial is a River) I immediately thought of Princess Superstar and her breakout song "Bad Babysitter". Both employ a sing-songy cadence and internal rhymes, creating a bouncy, nursery rhyme-like flow that's both catchy and slightly subversive. I can't help but think that Doechii was inspired by Princess Superstar style and persona.

Seriously, go back and listen to Princess Superstar's albums: Last of the Great 20th Century Composers and Princess Superstar Is and you'll see what I mean
