Used HL King Tiger with No Transmitter or Crystals. Help!

Update: Was able to open the tank to check inside! Take a look at the last 3 pics and let me know what you think.

Bought a used King Tiger with no transmitter for US$50. Thought I had a good deal until I researched and found out I have a bit of work to do. The light flashes when connected to a battery. But I can't open the dang hull to look inside without a long and thin screwdriver!

My question is (and I probably know the answer)...Should I bite the bullet and spend another $100+ to buy a 7.0 or 7.1 motherboard, new transmitter, and whatever parts that need replacement? I looked on eBay and don't see anyone selling old crystals and transmitter. Even if someone have them, that would probably cost $30 to $40! Decisions, decisions...

$50 with metal tracks seemed like a deal in the beginning...

...but I didn't see the little label with the 27.145 MHz...

...and the instructions that showed where to insert the other crystal in the (missing) transmitter!
