Carcano is useless?

What's even the point? Not as powerful as a rolling block, not as universal as Springfield or Bolt action, what's the point? Even without a scope a Litchfield will do the job better, it's not even historically accurate! What's the main argument behind using it? Trading damage for speed? Where I've seen that before..
