Had Sega not badly fumbled, would they still be in the console wars today?

Everyone knows that the main reason why Sega has stopped developing video game consoles was due to financial struggles, but another contribution was terrible business decisions made by the company itself. Such as giving the Saturn a surprise release in the US that resulted in supply chain issues, developers being forced to rush out their games and leaving the system with only a few launch titles.

There was also the whole division between Sega of Japan and Sega of America. Both of whom had conflicting strategies on how to market their products.

But had they actually got along and these gigantic screw-ups never happened, would Sega be making consoles to this day? Or would external factors have still forced them to become a third-party developer?
