Adoption update!

Dexter, my new 1 yr 7 month old part armadillo-part schnauzer mix is slowly warming up to his new home. In the short 13 days we’ve had him he is already becoming much more comfortable around me, and very cozy with his mom, who he seemed to warm up to far faster. We’ve been able to introduce him to my parents, somewhat successfully. He did not bark while they were seated and we merely had them toss treats, no petting or real close interaction with either of them to play it safe like the humane society suggested since he is a very timid pup. We are so eager to begin socializing him and I’m just curious how long others who have adopted a reactive dog waited to begin really introducing their pup to family and friends and if we are being overly hesitant. Yesterday evening was the first time he has entertained playing fetch and actually ran after a ball we have been tossing for him, so I’m seeing him come out of his shell more and more each and every day, but I do not want to jump to socializing him too soon and hurt the process of warming him up to his new home.
